Get Up Close and Personal With a Volcano - No vacation in Hawaii would be complete without getting a closer look at one of its many volcanoes. It's worth the a day trip and short flight to the Big Island for a visit to Volcanoes National Park. The summit of the awe-inspiring Kilauea volcano can easily be toured via Crater Rim Drive, an 11-mile road that wraps around the summit caldera and passes through both desert and rainforest as well as across the caldera floor. The road has plenty of access to scenic stops and short walks to explore the area further. The incredible sight of an active volcano up close is sure to be an unforgettable adventure.
